Police are searching for a man in connection with a suspected abduction attempt last week.
On August 25 around 5 p.m., an 18-year-old Kelowna woman was approached by a man driving a newer beige van, as she was walking in the Husch Road/ Rutland Road South area.
Constable Steve Holmes says the man told the woman that he was a friend of her mother's and that her mother had sent him to come and get her.
“The victim did not recognize the man and so she walked away. The van drove off,” says Holmes.
He says the driver was described as being Caucasian, in his 40s, 5' 10" tall, 160 lbs, thinning straight dirty blonde/copper color hair.
“He has close set eyes, thin lips, a pointed chin and a pointed nose. He was wearing reading glasses. There were two other males inside the van, but no descriptions for them, other than they were husky.”
Holmes says the woman worked with an RCMP sketch artist to render a likeness of the suspect driver.
“If anyone recognizes the sketch, or recalls the beige van with black interior and tinted windows in the area of Husch and Rutland Road South on August 25, please call the Kelowna Detachment at 250-762-3300, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.”
