Going out of bounds lead to a very long night for a couple of snowboarders.
A group of snowboarders went out of resort boundaries at the Big White Ski Resort and two of them were reported overdue around 7 p.m. Saturday.
Corporal Jay Arnold says the group had been heading to the area known as Moonlight Bowl.
“Two of the boarders found their way out, however two did not. Missing were a 27-year-old man and 15-year-old youth from Kelowna. Big White Ski Patrol, with the assistance of Kelowna Search and Rescue, initiated plans to search for the missing pair,” says Arnold.
He says the pair were found well out of bounds in the Moonlight Bowl area around 8 a.m. Sunday.
“They were waving to the helicopter and had attempted to make a shelter where they spent the night. Fortunately the weather was around -3 degrees Celsius with calm skies. Big White Ski Patrol and Kelowna Search and Rescue were able to escort the snowboarders out of the area to safety later in the morning.”
It’s not known if either of the snowboarders were injured.
