Steamy art show getting attention

Plans for an erotic art show at a city-owned facility don't immediately bother Kelowna's mayor, although Sharon Shepherd says she does intend to investigate.

A group of artists has scheduled what's billed as the Okanagan's 'first annual' erotic art show for March 29 at the Rotary Centre for the Arts.

Shepherd says she would hope anyone who might be offended would be able to give the show a miss, if the artworks are displayed discreetly.

"This is a public place so how it's displayed will be really important," says Shepherd.

The mayor notes that the Rotary Centre has a management team which makes these kinds of choices.

Meanwhile, the show's website says the erotic paintings, drawings, sculptures and videos will be on display at the Rotary Centre for a full month, starting with the March 29 launch that happens in tandem with the annual Wearable Art Gala.
