Rutland family man intends to seek a seat on city council

Christopher Bocskei says he brings a different, and unique perspective to the issues facing Kelowna today.

Bocskei, who announced Friday he intends to run for a seat on city council in the fall, says he has firsthand knowledge with respect to the social issues facing the city.

"As someone who has been homeless, who has been an addict, I think I bring a unique perspective to the table," said Bocskei.

"I am for safe communities, responsible growth/infrastructure and affordable housing. We are the fastest growing city in B.C., and we have some challenges ahead of us."

Bocskei described himself as "a family man," and father to "three fine boys."

"I have a small business I have had for many years, and have been volunteering with children for over 30 years, as a scout leader, a soccer or baseball coach, a community volunteer for special events, special events at schools, teen events in Rutland and the PRC or at the community garden."

Bocskei said he plans to be out over the summer knocking on doors to get a better idea of what's important to Kelowna residents.

Voters will go to the polls Oct. 15 to elect a new mayor and council.
