Okanagan College students across the valley will be protesting tuition hikes next week.
From January 14 through 16, students will be attending the OK College Board of Governors 'tuition consultation' meetings, voicing their concerns before a vote is taken on the issue.
Federation representative for the Okanagan College Student's Union, Andrew Nelson, says the board is voting on a motion to increase fees by 2%.
"Tuition fees at Okanagan College have stayed frozen for the past two years. Fees at OC are currently the second highest in the province," says Nelson.
He says last year's National Day of Action protest against tuition fee hikes brought thousands of students across the Okanagan together to protest.
"Tuition fees have more than tripled here in the Okanagan since the tuition fee freeze was lifted in 2002."
Members of the students' union hope to convince the board that fees are already too high at Okanagan College, and another increase will make education less accessible.
