An apparent medical event was thought to be the cause of a single vehicle crash on Highway 97 just south of the intersection with Highway 33 in Kelowna Sunday morning.
Early reports indicate the driver of a south-bound SUV may have suffered a seizure around 9:30 Sunday morning, causing him to lose control of his vehicle and sending it off the road into a light pole.
RCMP at the scene said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
"The driver was shaken up, but other than that he seemed to be okay," said one constable. "It seemed to be a medical event which caused the accident."
The driver was checked out by Emergency Health Services at the site of the accident and then taken to KGH by ambulance, although without lights or siren. No other cars or people were involved in the incident.
