Ski Swap This Weekend

by - Story: 33439

It's never too early to get ready for the upcoming ski season.

The Ogopogo Zone of the Canadian Ski Patrol host the 15th annual Winter Sport Show and Swap Saturday and Sunday at the Kelowna Curling Club.

Ski Patrol spokesman, Perry Mack, expects this year's show to be even bigger then past shows.

"One of the nice things about moving to the Curling Club three years ago is it allows us to actually put a show on along with the swap," says Mack. "There will be demonstrations and movies running all day both days, local ski hills will be represented as well as skis, snowboards and clothing."

He says everyone that comes to the swap wants a good deal, so most of the merchandise is priced accordingly.

"We've got about a half million dollars in equipment this year and probably the largest selection of kids gear we've ever had, so if you want to outfit the family cheap, this is the time to do it."

People who wish to take items down to the Curling Club for the swap are asked to do so between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until noon Saturday.

The show itself runs from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday.

Mack says he expects about 2,500 people to attend the two day show and swap.

Meantime, early bird season passes are now available for both Big White and Silver Star.

Both hills will have displays at the Ski Show and malls around the valley. Skiers can also purchase season tickets on line at www.bigwhite.com or www.skisilverstar.com.
