Ready, set ... volunteer!

The 22nd annual Okanagan Volunteer Fair is set to roll on Saturday.

Hosted by Kelowna Community Resources, the event will feature 65 non-profit organizations sharing how they support the community and recruiting volunteers to help them make a deeper impact.

The fair takes place at Parkinson Recreation Centre from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free to attend.

This year, the event will showcase the United Nations' sustainable development goals and how local non-profit organizations are contributing to them. The goals address global challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice.

The fair is an excellent place to find out what local organizations are doing around the Central Okanagan and internationally. Attendees can "shop around" to find the cause and volunteer opportunity that is the best fit for their skills and interests.

“The connections that I made through volunteering, when I first moved to Kelowna, have helped me in my career path over the last 22 years,” says Stephanie Moore, project co-ordinator at KCR. “In addition to building your resume and networking, you can share your expertise and truly make a difference in our community.”
