Cops, pops and pizza

Have a slice of pizza and support BC Special Olympics on Thursday.

RCMP invite the public to join them for Cops, Pops and Pizza, 5-9 p.m. at Boston Pizza's Kelowna Dilworth and West Kelowna restaurants.

Officers will team up with Special Olympics athletes to serve customers and collect donations.

More than 20 Boston Pizza restaurants across the province are set to take part in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics event. Participating law enforcement agencies include the Abbotsford, Delta, New Westminster, Port Moody, Vancouver, and West Vancouver police departments, RCMP detachments throughout B.C., BC Corrections, B.C. Sheriff Services, and the Metro Vancouver Transit Police.

Last year’s inaugural campaign raised more than $12,000.

"Along with raising vital funds for Special Olympics BC, the campaign is a fun way for athletes and law enforcement members to connect with people in their communities and spread awareness of SOBC’s life-changing programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities," says SOBC president Dan Howe.

Law enforcement torch runs in B.C. have raised more than $4 million in British Columbia since 1990 in support of people with intellectual disabilities.
