HA prospect granted bail

The Kelowna Hells Angels prospect who was arrested Wednesday afternoon was released from custody on bail Thursday. 

Colin Michael Bayley, 30, was charged with aggravated assault, stemming from an incident in downtown Kelowna on May 6. Police executed a search warrant on the Hells Angels' clubhouse in Kelowna's North End Wednesday night as part of the investigation. 

Thursday, Justice Gregory Koturbash released Bayley from custody on $2,500 bail. 

Bayley had just completed a 12-month probation period for a previous assault conviction before the alleged May 6 assault occurred. 

He's scheduled to appear back in Kelowna court on May 27.

Kelowna RCMP have arrested a known associate of the Hells Angels.

Police say 30-year-old Colin Michael Bayley of Kelowna was arrested without incident Wednesday afternoon during a traffic stop.

The arrest came hours before the Kelowna RCMP Street Enforcement Unit, Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit and Southeast District Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant on the Kelowna Hells Angels clubhouse.

“The warrant was related to an ongoing police investigation into an alleged serious assault carried out on May 6 at an establishment located in the 300 block of Bernard Avenue,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

Bayley has been charged with aggravated assault.

O'Donaghey says details surrounding the alleged incident can't be released because it is now before the courts, however, he confirmed a 41-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 12-month probation for a previous assault had expired before this latest alleged incident.

Bayley made his first appearance in court Thursday.
