Bail for 5 alleged kidnappers

The fifth and final person allegedly involved in a kidnapping in Kelowna last month has been granted bail.

On the evening of March 1, police arrested five people at multiple locations across Kelowna in connection to a kidnapping that had occurred earlier that week.

Despite objections by the Crown, 32-year-old Shane Haines was granted bail Thursday.

This comes after his co-accused, 48-year-old Clayton Zeleniski, 18-year-old Dalton Zeleniski, 37-year-old Timothy Hennessy, and 24-year-old Nicole Sidhu were all granted bail last week.

The five are all facing various charges, including kidnapping, robbery, unlawful confinement, assault causing bodily harm, and aggravated assault.

A man had gone to a Kelowna home on Feb. 24, in what police say was an attempt to buy drugs. The man was allegedly assaulted and held against his will for three days before he was dropped off at Kelowna General Hospital with serious injuries.

All five have scheduled appearances in Kelowna court later this month.
