Cookie monsters loose

Alanna Kelly

When the owners of Bliss Bakery found out their store in Peachland had been robbed, they thought the worst.

But, once they reviewed their video surveillance, they were surprised to see what was taken.

“We’ve had customers tell us our cookies are a steal,” said Darci Yeo. “But I am not exactly sure how to take this.”

Two thieves broke the lock on the front door about 3 a.m. on Jan. 21 at the location on Beach Avenue.

“The alarm was going off, and we headed down to the Peachland store,” she said. “The only thing we could find missing were cookie trays.”

A female can be seen in the video running right for the counter where the cookies are kept and scooping them into her arms.

“They took our chocolate chunk, our peanut butter chunk, our world-renowned tree hugger cookies, and our chocolate salty toffee cookies,” she said. “We felt a little insulted at the end of it because they didn’t take our gluten-free cookies, which are actually very good.”

It total, they took off with about 60 delicious cookies.

“I wish we could get our trays back, they are hard for us to get a hold of,” said Yeo. “If they are reading this… just drop them off in the night, and no one will know the difference.”

When asked if they are still going to keep the cookies out, Yeo said for now, yes. But they have changed their security locks.

“We don’t have any plans to change our business practices at this point, but if cookie banditry continues, they will have to change it.”

Police are investigating the incident and anyone who recognizes the two individuals involved are asked to contact police.
