Poppadoms gets support

A Kelowna food truck is without power and a family business can’t operate after its generator was stolen.

The theft occurred about 1 a.m. Sunday while the Poppadoms truck was parked in the owner's driveway on Tamarack Drive.

Now, the community is coming together to help him replace the $6,000 generator.

“On top of this, they recently had a tragic loss in their family, which is already difficult to cope with, but has also resulted in further loss of revenue,” said Polya Strilaeff.

Poppadoms owner Serge Dosanj said the generator was locked and bolted to his truck, but the theives were still able to make off with it.

“When we moved here 11 years ago… it was fantastic, you could leave a kid's bike outside and nothing would get taken. Sadly, now when it is locked up, it still goes.”

Strilaeff said the Dosanj family have been pillars of the community for over a decade.

She added they “have been donating and volunteering for the community, including volunteering with the Salvation Army to cook for those affected by the B.C. wildfires.

“Anyone who has visited the Poppadoms food truck knows that Poppa Poppadoms is always full of joy and laughter,” she said. “This business is more than just about food. It is about building and supporting our amazing community."
