SunRype Marathon is back

The SunRype Okanagan Marathon is back for its 24th year!

Runners and walkers alike are invited to partake in the two-day event on Oct. 6 and 7 for a 1km run, 5km, 10km, half marathon and full marathon.

Known as one of Western Canada’s flattest and fastest courses, the 2018 SunRype Okanagan Marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier where runners can enjoy the picturesque views along Okanagan Lake before finishing at City Park.

The weekend kicks off with a kids zone full of inflatables, activities and face painting before their 1km.

The 5km run also takes place on Saturday with the 10km, half and full marathons wrapping up the weekend on Sunday.

Each participant will receive a finisher’s medal and a t-shirt.

“Becoming a bigger part of this longstanding local event is really exciting,” said Barb Broder, SunRype communications manager.

“We want to help people live healthier lives and it’s only fitting that we are now partnering with a community event that shares our values,” Broder added.

The SunRype Okanagan Marathon supports the Sunshine Foundation of Canada, helping dreams come true for children living with severe physical disabilities or life threatening illnesses.

In their 30 years of dream-making, the Sunshine Foundation of Canada has provided more than 8,000 dream experiences across Canada and coordinated over 62 Sunshine DreamLifts to Disney theme parks.
