Rockin' night at Sunset

Madison Erhardt

Canadian rock bands Honeymoon Suite, The Younguns and Appaloosa packed the stage Friday night at Sunset Ranch Golf Course in Kelowna.

Friday featured a golf tournament at Sunset Ranch, a festival right on the golf course, followed by an after party at the O.K Corral.

"This is a very unique tournament, fundraiser and festival, all in one day. Our recipient for our golf tournament this year is a single mother from Penticton. Cindy has three children ages two, seven and ten months old," said Brad Krauza, CEO.

Ten-month-old Mercury has been diagnosed with a rare ailment called Alexander's Disease, affecting the neurological part of the body.

"After meeting and interviewing Cindy a couple weeks back, she had mentioned that the life span of the children with this disease is seven to nine years. Cindy has been told that Mercury has an aggressive form of this disease which may lessen the child's life span even more unfortunately," Krauza added.

The funds raised at Friday's event will help Cindy make trips to Canuck Place in Vancouver and keep up with medical expenses.

"We have worked with Canuck Place many times over the years and currently, they have stated that there are 24 families from the Okanagan who are using their services.
