Busted newsman!

Castanet's Rob Gibson has been arrested – for a good cause.

The news director was cuffed by Kelowna RCMP Thursday morning as part of the force's annual Jail & Bail fundraiser.

The event raises money for the RCMP's Cops For Kids charity.

Gibson, a recent addition to the Castanet news team, was charged with "illegal immigration from Vancouver Island and with having a great face for radio."

Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey read out the charges before Gibson was hauled off to the Canadian Brewhouse, where a judge set his bail at $500.

Now, he's busy dialling for dollars to set himself free.

Cops for Kids provides much-needed medical equipment, therapy, learning and mobility aids for local children.

You can help a good cause – and set the newsman free – by making a donation. Call directly Gibson at 250-718-6242 to make a pledge or visit www.copsforkids.org and make a donation in his name.
