St. Paddy's Day takes over

The bars of Kelowna were awash with green Saturday, as party people of all ages got a little bit Irish.

With March 17 falling on a Saturday this year, St. Patrick's Day was especially easy to celebrate. And there was no shortage of celebration around town.

Lucky Monkey played the afternoon set at O'Flannigan's Pub, followed by Rumble 100 closing the night off.

Warren Carr was the first one in the door of O'Flannigan's at 11:30 a.m., dressed head to toe in leprauchan garb.

“It's the best day of the year,” Carr said. “We come here every year, I love this place.”

Carr said he's been coming to O'Flannigan's for the past 10 years with the same group of friends.

“All inhibitions are gone, everyone's having fun,” he said.

Kassidy Rritzuk, lead singer of Lucky Monkey, said they planned to play the “danciest” songs they have.

“These may or may not be women's pants,” he said, showing off his very tight green pants.

A lineup began forming outside O'Flannigan's around 4:30 p.m. and the bar remained packed from there on.
