Freezing to raise funds

For some, being stuck in your comfort zone is much worse than jumping into freezing water in the middle of winter.

Kendra McFarland is using her network of friends to bring awareness to just that.

"The #LakeDipChallenge is a movement created to encourage and help each other feel empowered to push past our limiting comfort zones by dipping or jumping into the nearest body of cold water," McFarland said.

The first of many dips occurred on Feb. 4.

Donations raised through the event will go to Her International.

Her International focuses on ensuring girls receive an education, their mothers and all women from the community have access to skill-building opportunities, and micro-financing groups are available to fund their hopes and dreams.

“Coming together to dip makes us closer to living glowing, vibrant, limitless lives through empowering people who need it the most - marginalized women and girls," McFarland said. "Her International is the charity we have chosen and trust to help utilize your donations to their fullest capacity.”

The campaign has raised $280 as of Thursday afternoon.

If you’d like to donate you can head to their website to help support this great cause.
