Homeless strategy input

The City of Kelowna is inviting residents to provide their input on initiatives around homelessness in the city.

The city's Journey Home Task Force is hosting a series of design labs next month to obtain community feedback of a number of specific topics centered around homelessness issues.

Topics range from supports for mental health and addictions and public education, to minority population homelessness and technology-based solutions.

"I, and a number of my council colleagues hear a lot of comments and suggestions regarding homeless in our community. This is the public's opportunity for those who want to share those comments with us to actually get involved in the process, to have their voice and to be part of this journey home strategy," said Mayor Colin Basran.

"This is a collaborative effort between everybody in the community. This isn't something we are going to solve on their own."

Design labs will take place March 6 to 9 at Trinity Baptist Church on Springfield Road.

The task force is hoping to unveil the Journey Home Plan to council later in the year.
