Jaws of Life being used

UPDATE: 3:51 p.m.

Paramedics are assessing people at the scene of a three vehicle collision in Rutland.

It is not clear if anyone was taken to hospital but witnesses from the scene said an elderly woman was "shaken up," and everyone else seemed to be OK.

“It looked pretty bad,” said Karen Randall. “The car and the one truck were right up against the bus stop.”

Emergency crews are trying to remove the debris from the road and traffic is being allowed through but drivers should expect delays.

UPDATE: 2:45 p.m.

Traffic is trying to be rerouted through the Save-On-Foods parking lot as crews are responding to a three vehicle crash on Highway 33.

A witness from the scene said she watched as firefighters used the Jaws of Life to try and remove an elderly woman.

“It’s scary watching that,” said Tammy Kasper. “There has been a major accident. It is all blocked with emergency, they are doing Jaws of Life right in front of me.”

The extent of any injuries is not clear at this time or how many people are injured.

“The paramedics are all here, firemen are working on the car trying to get her out,” Kasper said.
