Gun flashed downtown

UPDATE: 3 p.m.

Kelowna RCMP are still looking for a man who’s believed to have flashed a gun to a woman in an alley in downtown Kelowna Tuesday night.

Just before 10 p.m., police were called to the 1500 block of Water Street, where a woman was approached by a man in an alley. The man, whose face was covered by a bandana, mumbled something incoherent and the woman, talking on her cellphone, told him she wasn’t talking to him

The woman says the man then walked by her, turned around, and showed her what appeared to be a silver revolver with a long barrel, before walking off.

A short time later, officers located a group of people nearby matching the suspect's description. None of the people had any weapons and they were released without charges.

The suspect is described as a five-foot-nine, 30-year-old First Nations man with a medium build. He was wearing a black tuque, a black bomber style jacket with red trim and a black and white bandana covering the lower half of his face at the time.

Police have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300, and cite police file number 2018-9232.
