Building Rowcliffe Park

Construction is finally set to begin on Rowcliffe Park.

The community park is the signature piece of the overall Central Green development.

Construction on Phase 1 of the five acre park is set to begin Thursday.

“The first phase of park construction will focus on the north side of the park, where the new playground will be located,” said Robert Parlane, parks and buildings planning manager.

“A new piece of public art will also be installed immediately adjacent to the park, and once fully complete, the overall park design will include a new recreation sports field, walking/running loop and a smaller urban off-leash dog park.”

Initially, the north fence of the existing dog park will be relocated southward to facilitate Phase 1.

The park will provide an immediate amenity to the surrounding community, which contains the highest density of residential development in Kelowna.

Future phases of the park will include a large central field for informal games of soccer, ultimate Frisbee, volleyball, football and picnicking.

Community gardens and a perimeter walking track will also be part of the park.

Council has approved funding for Phase 2 as part of the 2018 budget.
