3 nights lost, dog found

Ollie made it home safe and sound Tuesday night – thanks to another dog's keen sense of smell.

The Wheaton terrier went missing Friday when he bolted while on a walk along Gordon Drive in Kelowna.

His owners, on their honeymoon in New Zealand, were unable to aid in the search.

After three cold nights in the outdoors, hope began to fade, until a resident out for a walk with her own dog located the pooch.

"We found him, but could not have caught him alone. The leash was broken, but Ollie never got free of his collar. My neighbour was the one that grabbed him," Michelle Engel posted on the Kelowna Okanagan Lost And Found Pets Facebook page.

"He was on the field, made it through the barbed wire fence off Gordon near Old Meadows. He had found a dry spot and must have hidden there. I wouldn't have seen him if my dog hadn't run up to him," Engel added.

The owners had posted a $1,500 reward for the person who found the dog. It's not known if Engel has received the money.
