Imagine, a new city OCP

The Imagine Kelowna project, scheduled to wrap up this spring, will serve as the springboard for an updated Official Community Plan and Transportation Master Plan.

Both multi-year projects will be brought before council this afternoon.

“The draft principles and goals of Imagine Kelowna will serve as the foundation to ensure a resilient future for Kelowna,” said policy and planning manager Danielle Noble-Brandt.

“The Official Community Plan update will turn the community’s vision into an actionable plan that sets the direction for future growth and land-use in ‘Our Kelowna as we Grow’ over the next 25 years.”

Work on an updated OCP and transportation plan will be launched under the banner of Imagine Next.

The city says aligning the two plans is designed to ensure a co-ordinated approach to both land-use and transportation planning.

As part of the plan development. city hall is asking residents to stay involved and engaged.

“A successful community can’t be built by local government, organizations and individuals working on their own.

"We have to do it as a community, and reaffirm our commitment to a future city that is attractive and evokes pride, passion and a sense of belonging and hope for future generations.”

The transportation plan is expected to be complete in 2019, the 2040 OCP in 2020.
