Arrest made in Rutland

UPDATE 6:30 p.m.

Police have left the area near Dougall Road and Highway 33 after arresting at least one person.

A woman who lives across from the intersection said about 10 police cars rushed to the area, just before 5 p.m., after an older-style car was pulled over.

"They drove right up on the sidewalk and I thought, 'That's an awful lot of police cars,'" she said.

The witness said a man and a woman were inside the car, and at least one of the occupants was arrested.

The car was towed from the scene, and within about 45 minutes, police had left the area.

The Kelowna RCMP have yet to comment on what warranted the large police presence.
