The Paddler passes away

One of Kelowna's own has passed away.

Bob Purdy, best known as the paddler, passed away at the age of 64 after a battle with cancer on Monday.

Purdy founded Paddle for the Planet and World Paddle for the Planet Day and starred in “The Paddler” movie.

Purdy used his platform to promote using SUP to inspire environmental activism.

As he once put it, "paddlers can relate to our message because being out on the water leads to a love for your surroundings and what we love we will protect."

Purdy leaves behind his wife Sharon, son Chad and a community of grateful mourners and inspired activists continuing his legacy of paddling for the planet.
