Bikeshare ready to roll

Matt Worona can't wait for the snow to melt and for spring to roll around.

Like everyone else, the City of Kelowna's active transportation co-ordinator enjoys the sunshine and warm temperatures – but he also can't wait to roll out the city's latest bike-friendly initiative.

Worona says everything is on track for an April 1 launch.

The proposed 18-month pilot program was given an enthusiastic thumbs up by city council last week.

All that's left to get the program up and running is a formal agreement between the city and Dropbike Inc., the company the city plans to use for the pilot.

Bike sharing allows people to rent a bike from one location and return it to one of many pre-determined spots all over the city.
