ICBC forks over $237K

The province's insurance corporation will be kicking in $237,000 for road safety projects completed by the City of Kelowna over the past 12 months.

The projects, completed in 2017, have been identified by staff as ones which have the potential to improve road safety, and result in reduced future collisions.

They were submitted to ICBC for consideration under the corporation's Road Safety Improvement Program.

The $237,000 from ICBC are spread among 16 road projects from 2017.

The larger contributions include:

  • $44,500 - Ethel 3 active transportation corridor
  • $43,200 - Doyle Avenue/Water Street roundabout
  • $24,600 - Ellis Street/Doyle Avenue improvements
  • $23,800 - Lakeshore Road/Collett Road roundabout
