Phase 4 of Central Green

Kelowna city council will be asked to approve the second of four rental apartments on the Central Green site when it returns from the Christmas break Monday.

Council will be presented with the form and character for the five-storey, 108-unit rental complex fronting along Richter Street.

This is the fourth of six buildings set to be constructed on the site.

The latest apartment will include eight two-bedroom units, 85 one-bedroom units and 15 bachelor suites. Each will include a balcony.

The building will be clad in a combination of red brick masonry, cast-in-place concrete, stucco and hardi-plank siding.

When viewed from Richter, the developer says the site will flow from traditional, to a more modern style, with red brick providing a consistent visual tie throughout the entire site.

The primary entrance will face the public plaza area to the west.

Two additional buildings, one to the west of the proposed new development, and one along Harvey Avenue, have yet to come before council.

A master plan for the entire Central Green development was approved by council in December of 2015.

Council has also approved $1.35 million for construction of Phase Two of a park on the Central Green property fronting Rowcliffe Avenue.

The first phase is scheduled to be complete sometime in the spring.
