Samaritans save snowed taxi

Several good samaritans in Kelowna saved a snowed-in taxi on the city's streets on Saturday, near downtown.

A Castanet reader said the taxi had slid into a snowbank at Saucier Avenue and Richter Street, and that six people took 30 minutes to help push the cab out.

"Faith restored in humanity! So many amazing people stopped to help this taxi driver," the reader said in an email.

"No one gave up. Thanks to everyone who stopped to help!"

Kelowna has been hit with record snowfall this week, as snowstorms pummelled the Okanagan.

No snow is forecasted to fall again in the valley for at least several days, according to Environment Canada.
