Get ready for parkade art

You'll notice some changes coming to the Library parkade over the coming days.

Three of seven public art pieces will be installed at the parkade Thursday.

The remaining four will be put in place in the new year.

"The Valley," by B.C. artists Ron Hart and Michael Fugeta is an abstraction of the Okanagan landscape, made up of cross-sections of topography stretching over 200 kilometres from Osoyoos to Enderby.

The artwork encompasses seven panels which will be placed along the south face of the parkade.

There will be a temporary change in traffic patterns and a modified entrance and exit to the parkade at Ellis Street while the installation equipment is working.

The piece will cost about $135,000. It's part of the city's public art collection, which includes about 60 pieces, ranging from murals and banners to sculptures and works integrated into local landscapes.
