Everyone deserves a hug during the Christmas season.
Kelowna’s Free Hug Team is getting together for the eighth year to make people’s day a little brighter.
"Christmas can be an incredibly happy time or a time when we wish our lives were different,” said team leader Angie Clowry.
Free hugs will be given out without expectation at the Sails in Kelowna on Boxing Day, starting at noon.
“I hugged a man who hasn't had a hug in nine years since he lost his wife,” said Clowry. “I have hugged a street person who I see often, and then everyone lined up to hug him.
“I am not sure who cried harder.”
The team hopes Kelowna residents will pay it forward and welcome people to bring their own "Free Hug" sign.
