Rockets ready with teddy

Madison Erhardt

The Kelowna Rockets paid a special visit to Kelowna General Hospital Sunday afternoon to hand out teddy bears to patients.

"A bunch of people in the hospital were really luck today," said Doug Rankmore, CEO of KGH. "Patients got some bears that were donated last night at the teddy bear toss game."

Kobei Schrenk, a nine year-old Kelowna boy, was shocked to see the Rockets stop by, and so was his dad.

"He has been cooped up in here for two weeks and hasn't been allowed to leave," said Darren Schrenk, Kobei's Father. "We escaped and were going to set up our Christmas tree, but as soon as we got home KGH called and said the Rockets were on their way to the hospital so we rushed back."

"It's awesome," Kobei said.

It was Rockets' defenceman Gordie Ballhorn's first time taking part in the teddy handout.

"We had heard stories from other guys where you walk in the room and their faces light up, but to experience it was really cool," Ballhorn said.
