3 MVIs in Lake Country

UPDATE: 12:55 p.m.

The RCMP were on scene at a Highway 97 vehicle crash in Lake Country Sunday morning when a driver went through the scene, clipped a fire engine and the barricade before coming to a stop.

Emergency responders had been attending the first incident, a one-vehicle crash in the southbound lanes near the Oyama turnoff, when the second crash occurred, said Lake Country Deputy Fire Chief Brent Penner.

One person sustained minor injuries in the first crash.

"The second one occurred when a vehicle went through the scene....He clipped our truck and clipped the barricades."

While there was damage done to the fire engine, including broken headlights, Penner said it was better than the driver "ploughing into my guys at an emergency scene."

A third crash occurred in sight of the first two when a vehicle rear ended another, again in the southbound lanes.

A woman driver was checked out by paramedics, Penner said.
