Tower construction begins

The infamous dirt pile at the corner of Water Street and Sunset Drive in downtown Kelowna has been cleared, and construction can now formally begin on the One Water Street highrises.

The massive development will see a pair of towers containing more than 400 residential units built atop a three-storey retail podium.

Stretching 29 and 36 storeys high, the towers will be the tallest between Metro Vancouver and Calgary.

According to the developers, construction will officially kick off next week, with test piling lasting five to six days.

Pile driving will continue through the spring. From there, the developers expect the project to be complete in four years.
