Gray endorses Wilkinson

Former Kelowna mayor Walter Gray has endorsed Andrew Wilkinson for leader of the BC Liberal party.

Wilkinson's campaign team made the announcement Friday, on the eve of a leadership debate in Kelowna.

“Andrew Wilkinson has solid experience and an enviable track record in and out of government,” says Gray, the city's longest-serving mayor.

During his 50-year broadcasting career, Gray built and operated three of Kelowna's radio stations. He was also an owner/partner in radio stations in Salmon Arm, Revelstoke, Trail, Nelson and Creston.

Gray served as mayor from 1996 to 2005 and again from 2011 to 2014. His motto was: “Kelowna is open for business."

“Andrew has lived all across the province and understands B.C.’s many regional issues, and most importantly that one size does not necessarily fit all," says Gray. "He understands business and has sweeping knowledge of what a BC Liberal government can do to get our province moving in the right direction.”

The endorsement follows the support of six caucus members this week, bringing Wilkinson's backing to 12 MLAs from across the province.
