Tree of Hope lights up

Madison Erhardt

It's a sign that Christmas is around the corner – the 20th annual Tree of Hope was illuminated in Kelowna Friday night.

The towering light display is a local landmark visible along the Highway 97 corridor, and even from flights in and out of Kelowna airport.

"It's our annual light up at the Landmark 6 (tower). This year is different because ... we are having our first annual Christmas market," said spokesperson Louise Pelletier.

There are over 30 vendors on the 16th floor of the Landmark 6 building, as well as local entertainment, delicious food and traditional holiday cheer.

Don't forget to bring your skates. There is an indoor synthetic ice rink for all to enjoy, as well as complimentary mulled cider and one-of-a-kind crafts, perfect for a holiday gift.

In partnership with tenants of Landmark Centre and TD Canada Trust, the Tree of Hope donates funds each year to local charitable organizations. More than $500,000 has been donated to date.

The Tree of Hope will remain illuminated until January.
