No freeze for Fortis

The provincial government’s decision to freeze BC Hydro's rates in 2018 likely won’t have any effect on FortisBC customers.

FortisBC spokesperson Nicole Bogdanovic says the utility has already submitted its request for a rate increase in 2018, and that any impact from BC Hydro's rates will likely be "minimal."

The British Columbia Utilities commission will make the final decision on what Fortis can charge its customers next year, but Fortis has asked to raise its rates by 0.17 per cent in January.
