Award nominations open

Nominations for the City of Kelowna's 43rd annual Civic Awards are now open.

The nomination period officially opened Monday, and close Jan. 26.

Fifteen categories make up the awards night, featuring outstanding contributions to the arts, sports, environment for both corporate and individuals as well young volunteer of the year and the man and woman of the year.

“It’s still underway, but 2017 has already been quite a year and we’re excited to see nominations come in for volunteers, artists, athletes and organizations that have shone a positive spotlight on Kelowna this year,” said community and neighbourhood services manager, Mariko Siggers,

Nomination are available online, while hard copies can be picked up at city hall, the Parkinson Rec Centre, and all Central Okanagan library branches.

Three finalists in each category will be unveiled in early March.

The annual Mayor's reception recognizing each of the finalists is scheduled for mid April, with the awards gala April 26 at the Kelowna Community Theatre.

Along with a keeper award the night of the awards, each winner will also have a special plaque erected in their name in Stuart Park.
