Planning a neighbourhood

The City of Kelowna is ready to show off its preferred plan for the Capri-Landmark area.

A public information session is planned for later this month to provide highlights of the plan, designed to create a vibrant new urban centre.

The area, bordered by Gordon Drive, Spall Road, Harvey and Springfield avenues, has a large business component and growing residential district, but lacks amenities and infrastructure.

The plan will shape the area over the next 30 years.

The preferred plan was developed with community input and technical analysis.

Some of the key concepts of the plan include:

  • Prioritized alternative transportation options
  • Comfortable, walkable streets
  • Flexible, social public spaces
  • Local character and sense of place
  • Diversity of housing types
  • Mix of land uses
  • Environmental resilience

The information session will be held Nov. 16, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Coast Capri Hotel.
