Crews douse trailer fire

Colton Davies

UPDATE: 10:40 p.m.

A travel trailer that spectacularly went up in flames shortly before 9:00 p.m. was put out quickly by fire crews, according to a witness.

Geoff Gaucher was driving home with his wife to Lake Country, when he first observed the trailer on fire being pulled by a Toyota Tacoma and called 9-1-1.

"As we pulled up alongside the trailer we could see that a small fire was burning," Gaucher said.

"I honked the horn to signal the driver and my wife Barb rolled her window down to speak to the driver. Barb yelled to him that his trailer was on fire."

Gaucher added that the fire continued to grow larger as the driver pulled over to the side of the highway.

He said fire crews were on scene within minutes and doused the flames with foam from water cannons.

"The fire seemed to be confined to the trailer, however the truck may have suffered heat damage."

No injuries have been reported related to the blaze, and the cause is still not known.
