Premier Gordon Campbell will be in Kelowna Wednesday to make an important announcement concerning OUC.
He's scheduled a news conference at the Grand where he is expected to announce that OUC's North Kelowna Campus is being turned over to UBC.
Rumours about UBC taking over the OUC campus have been circulating for months.
OUC's public relation's director Allan Coyle says the UBC takeover announcement is news to him but admits the rumours have been rampant. "What I can tell you is that the province has been reviewing two options. One involves an alliance of some sort with UBC the other is that is that it's carefully reviewing the business plan that the OUC Board of Governors has prepared and submitted to the government." Coyle says that report calls for full university status.
Campbell is also expected to announce later this week in Kamloops that his government is granting full university status to UCC.
Castanet will have full coverage of Campbell's news conference.
