Thank you, RCMP

Madison Erhardt

Members of the public said thank you to Kelowna's police on Tuesday – with burgers and hotdogs.

A gratitude barbecue was held outside the RCMP detachment to thank the force for keeping the community safe.

"It's our fantastic event for first responders on behalf of Third Space Life Charity. They are so generously donating all their time and energy today," said event planner Dena Barabash.

Strong winds didn't seem to put a damper on the event.

Mayor Colin Basran spoke, thanking first responders, and grub was served for all to enjoy.

A coffee bar kept adults warm, and a candy station fed kids' sweet tooths.

"I think it is a very worthwhile event. I'm excited ... it's the community recognizing the work that we do here. It is very valued by the staff at the office," said Supt. Brent Mundle.
