Hiring diverse abilities

A growing number of businesses are employing individuals with diverse abilities, and a restaurant in Kelowna has experienced the benefits first hand.

Andrew is "willing to work, he wants to work, so why wouldn’t we employ him?” said Dawn Plugoway, assistant manager at Arby's.

Pathways Abilities Society, a local non-profit, and Century 21 Assurance Realty is celebrating local "Heroes of Diversabilities" during Community Living Month this October.

The annual celebration recognizes the contributions and accomplishments of people with developmental disabilities across the province. 

Pathways encourages the community to help those with diverse abilities achieve greater independence.

Pathways has been providing services to the community for more than 60 years.
