Next phase at Reid's Corner

Work on Reid's Corner in Kelowna will be ramping up in the next two weeks.

Contractor Emil Anderson Construction advises motorists there will be road closures in the area.

From Friday 7 p.m. to Monday 7 a.m., there will be no entry to Highway 97 from Old Vernon Road, as well as no left turn from Highway 97 onto Sexsmith Road.

From 7 p.m. Sept. 29 to 7 a.m. Oct. 2, there won't be access onto Highway 97 from Sexsmith. There will also be no left turns allowed from the highway onto Old Vernon Road.

During these closures, motorists can get to Old Vernon or Sexsmith road from Edwards Road, Adams Road, Ackland Road, Commercial Road and Rutland Road.

Detour signs will be in place during the construction.

The temporary closures and changes are part of work being done to ease congestion at the busy intersection. It's part of the six-lane expansion of Highway 97 from Highway 33 to Edwards Road.

The changes come after permanent closures last week of two roads connecting to Highway 97.
