Make your mark on mural

Madison Erhardt

Central Okanagan residents are making their mark on a mural to commemorate Canada's 150th birthday.

Once complete, the mural will hang in Interior Health's new Community Health & Service Centre in downtown Kelowna.

Would-be artists began painting the 300 squares that will comprise the eight foot square mural on Thursday. Each will be painted by a different person.

It's part of a Canada 150 project celebrating the nation's sesquicentennial with murals across the country.

"Every mural we create in each area stays in that particular community, but we connect all the murals and digitally put them online," said spokesman Phil Alain. "By the end, there will be 100,000 paintings from coast to coast."

The painting sessions are going on in the IH lobby.
