A proposed new hotel and mixed-use commercial-residential complex comes before city council Monday.
As Castanet News first told you back in January, Kelowna East Investments Ltd. is seeking to develop a vacant piece of property on Enterprise Way next to Spall Road for what would be a six-storey Hyatt Hotel.
Next to the hotel, a proposed six storey building with commercial space on the ground floor and residential units above.
The scope of the entire project would include a 161 room hotel and 54 residential units.
In order to facilitate the project, a zoning change from the current C4, Urban Centre Commercial to a CD17, Mixed Use Commercial – High Density is required to accommodate a larger floor area ratio.
City staff are in favour of the project and zoning change, saying it is on a vacant, and underutilized piece of property a strategic position within the Mid-town Urban Centre.
The property is also well served by nearby shopping plazas, the Parkinson Rec Centre, multi-use trails, and
the Landmark employment hub.
The developer is hoping to move the process along quickly in order to meet a contractual obligation with Hyatt to begin construction by the spring of next year.
