Cheers to cider festival

Cider lovers rejoice. The Okanagan Craft Cider Festival is coming up on May 6.

BC Tree Fruits Cider Co. is hosting the first annual event at its cidery at 880 Vaughn Rd. in Kelowna.

Sample ciders from 14 cideries from across B.C., including: BC Tree Fruits Cider Co., SunRype Cider, Howling Moon Craft Cider, Wards Hard Apple Cider, Left Field Cider Co., Scenic Road Cider Co., Nomad Cider, Dominion Cider Co., Orchard Hill Estate Cidery, Summerland Heritage Cider Company, The BX Press, Gabbie's Cider,  Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse and Burton City Cider.

The event runs from noon to 4 p.m. and is the final event of B.C. Cider Week, a 10-day celebration taking place April 28-May 7.

Food trucks will be on hand so you can sip away the afternoon and enjoy bites from The CrAsian Food Truck and The Boneyard BBQ & Grilling Co. 

There will also be live entertainment, games and prize giveaways.

Tickets are $20 each or two for $30 and can be purchased at the cidery or online at www.kelownatickets.com. You'll also receive a commemorative sample glass and five tasting tokens. Additional tokens can be purchased $2.

BC Tree Fruits launched its Broken Ladder cider in 2015.
