Two more NDP candidates

The BC NDP party officially has candidates for two more local ridings in the upcoming May 9 provincial election.

Harwinder Sandhu and Erik Olesen were acclaimed at a nomination meeting Thursday.

Sandhu, a nurse, will be looking to unseat incumbent BC Liberal candidate and minister of forests, lands and natural resource operations, Steve Thomson, in the Kelowna-Mission riding.

Sandhu was born in India, and immigrated to B.C. in 2001, living in northern B.C. before moving to the Okanagan.

She was originally looking to run for the BC NDP party in the Vernon-Monashee riding, but was recently defeated by Barry Dorval.

Erik Olesen will be facing off against the incumbent BC liberal candidate and minister of agriculture, Norm Letnick, in the Kelowna-Lake Country riding.

Olesen is 25 years old and works in the hospitality industry. He has studied pre-nursing and volunteers with seniors and with people with disabilities.
