Pot pies and wide eyes

A Kelowna restaurant served up smiles for hungry kids on Thursday.

Joey's restaurant delivered the lunches to youngsters at the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club as part of its national Cup of Care program.

“Cup of Care is near and dear to our hearts. It's a way we can all come together to support our communities and truly make an impact,” said Chris Mills, executive chef for the chain.

The team has served more than 6,000 pot pies across Canada this year.

“We are grateful to be receiving delicious pot pies for the children and youth in our programs,” said Diane Entwistle, CEO at Boys and Girls. “Food security and nutrition are important to our overall mission of giving children and youth a safe place to grow and belong.”

The clubs provide programs that support healthy physical, educational and social development. Many also provide meals, emergency shelter, and family support.
